Anthy

Anthy

What was your main concern before AAS?
Before AAS, I had no idea where to start planning. Whether it’s state, school, costs, you name it. It was all just a vague daydream before AAS helped solidify it. Yes, the internet gives you all sorts of choices, but none give you the most tailored choice. And not knowing a single thing about studying abroad made this whole thing more daunting. I was 15 and didn’t know much about student visas, medical checks and genuine student statements, school and boarding fees, insurance, career pathways, etc. Even data plans were confusing. Let’s just say having AAS helped clear up a lot of confusion and got rid of the stress of not knowing when deadlines are. Most importantly, they helped me figure out my goals and how to get there.

In terms of professional assistance, which aspect did your consultant help you with the most?
AAS gave me loads of booklets from all the schools that seem like it can be potentially a target.
Agents know what type of school you want after a brief chat (high or low cost, fancy or simple, career paving, same-sex or not, etc) (For me, all it took was mentioning that I wanted to do vet med in uni). Sometimes talking to someone and asking directly just beats Google easily. It is all smooth sailing after signing the contract.

Regarding your mindset: The application process is long; how did your consultant provide peace of mind?
To be honest, like very very honest, I didn’t really stress about getting offers or having a plan B. Somehow, I just knew AAS would do their job and get me in. Also, if one school doesn’t offer, another one will.

Beyond school applications, did AAS ease your burden in arrangements like Visas, accommodation, and flights?
AAS definitely helped with visas, accommodation, and plane tickets. Organising these things is not easy, so having agents sort things out for you is honestly so much better. Everything is clear. Step-by-step and BOOM, it’s done, and next thing you know you’re on the plane to
your new school.

What advice or suggestions would you give to the next generation of students preparing for overseas study?
Hey guys, whether you are panicking because you’re anxious to live alone in a foreign
country or you’re beyond excited and ready to leave and be free, here are some things I
learnt and some advice for you:
1) You have three jobs: study, stay healthy, and stay sane. (Do it well.)
2) Pro tips: Study when it is study time, get a gym membership, be mindful of what they
feed you (if it’s too oily/salty whatever, speak up. Tell the kitchen staff.)
3) Advice on living abroad: With great independence, comes great stress and
loneliness. Make real friends, speak up to bullying, maintain eye contact, don’t try to
act cool, speak when spoken to, and let’s be real, take care of your money and how
you spend it.
4) Learn to tolerate: There are always some things you can’t control, like who lives next
to you and how loud and annoying they can be. Trust me, there are some very
obnoxious people who just don’t care about others. So, your job is to get some noise
cancelling headphones and read a book and ignore.
5) Which brings me to my next point: Keep refining your English skills. You are in an
English-speaking country, with people who use slangs and write essays in formal
English. Read books and make friends with the locals. Make sure you make your
way to being fluent.
6) Last but not least, enjoy your time there. Times flies by extremely fast with all the
deadlines and events. Take a while to be present, go for every opportunity, and don’t
take life too seriously.
