G’day mate! I’m Cyrus Cheng, a past grammarian as a senior of 2017. With the aid of my personal AAS Consultant, Sheri, and the support from family and friends, I have successfully finished my senior year with no regrets. I started my first day of school on the 27th of September in 2015. It was quite a challenge for me because I had to make sure I can adapt to this new environment quickly in order to archieve the goal I set for myself before I left my old school. To be able to walk across the stage. I was lucky enough to be allocated to live with a really cute homestay family whom they had given me so much love and support during the hard times and also making so many life long friends. Not only the international boarder friends who came from Hong Kong, China, Thailand and Japan, but also the local aboriginals and the Aussies. No matter what cultural background you have, they would always welcome you with the brightest smiles and their Australian country acent. I think its time for some words of wisdom.

I really encourage every single one of you to open up yourselves more to everyone, don’t feel shy talking to people you have never seen. Little do you know that they might be your best mate in the future. Also, don’t hesitate to seek help from seniors and teachers when you have academic difficulties or struggle to adapt into this new environment. They had been facing the exact same situation as you are. They know exactly how you feel and they can always give you the best advice and support. Keeping everything to yourself wouldn’t make things easier for you. And most importantly, make as many friends as you can. I have been here for two and a half years and I have already made a lot of life long friends. We share our happiness together. We cry together. We celebrate our success together. We fight for each other at all cost. I am so honored to be able to be part of this big family, Townsville Grammar. I am proud to say I’m a past grammarian with pride and dignity. Last but not least, I want to share a quote from my teacher Mr. Wilson. “Don’t count the days, make the days count!”
